TDA is a federal government contractor with customers in the defense, aerospace, medical, materials, energy, and chemical industries. In addition, we develop commercial products and technologies through direct sales, distribution agreements, spin-off companies, and licensing. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of a Principal Mechanical Engineer to gain real world experience in designing, assembling, and operating experimental apparatuses. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers, contribute to active R&D projects, and build practical skills that translate directly into future engineering roles.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Hourly pay range: $19.00-$21.00; No sponsorship, relocation, or housing stipend available for this internship. As this is a temporary internship, the benefits package is not offered. Part-time employees accrue paid sick leave as required by Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Engage in research activities to explore new technologies, materials, and methods that can be applied to ongoing projects or new innovations
- Assist with designing, manufacturing and building test apparatuses
- Assist in setting up and conducting tests on prototypes and mechanical systems, analyze results, and contribute to the evaluation of system performance and reliability
- Electrically and mechanically install, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment
- Operate experimental testing apparatuses
- Perform proper data collection to ensure accuracy, validity and integrity of data
- Developing ability to explain technical information clearly to others
- Wire circuits and programming microcontrollers
- Integrate sensors and create data collection methods
- Other related duties as assigned
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university
- Foundational knowledge of core engineering principles
- Hands-on experience with basic mechanical assembly
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols
- Introduction to Programming (Python, C, etc.)
- Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Foundational knowledge of microcontrollers and sensors
- Basic electrical wiring skills
- In-office; no remote or hybrid
- Prolonged stationary periods sitting or standing performing computer-based work and assembly
- Fine motor skills for use of a computer, keyboard and assembly of components
- Close vision for computer work and mechanical assembly
- Variable noise levels (office environment, lab environment and manufacturing environment)
- Compliance with organizational security, confidentiality and data protection standards is required
